ISS STOXX Governance Announces Planned AI‑Enabled Solutions
ROCKVILLE, Md. (April 29, 2026) – ISS STOXX Governance, a leading global provider of independent and objective shareholder meeting research and vote recommendations and unit of ISS STOXX, today announced details on its 2026 roadmap, which includes the release of new standalone solutions designed to support institutional investors’ stewardship and proxy voting activities by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI). With more than four decades as a leader in the corporate governance industry, ISS STOXX Governance is uniquely placed to deliver high quality and reliable AI solutions to institutions sharply focused on investment stewardship and meeting their fiduciary obligations.
ISS STOXX Governance’s forthcoming research offering, “PolicySteward,” will be designed to deliver automated, data-driven voting recommendations, research reports, clear rationale text, and a front-end user interface leveraging AI. Through the new solution, subscribers will enjoy greater independence, transparency, and flexibility regarding how voting decisions are informed and executed. The solution is expected to be available globally beginning in 2027 and fully integrated with ProxyExchange, ISS STOXX Governance’s cutting-edge and end‑to‑end voting platform.
In addition to the standalone PolicySteward offering, ISS STOXX Governance is, in parallel, advancing a broad transformation of ProxyExchange aimed at delivering a more streamlined and intuitive workflow for stewardship and voting activities. Central to this effort is the development of a new, more customizable ProxyExchange hub featuring integrated tools and AI capabilities surfacing more content and expertise. The transformed experience will embed ISS Communicator and ISS Vote Preference, also known as “Vote Choice” or “pass‑through voting,” into screens and workflows, respectively, enabling more effective use of ISS research and engagement tools.
A core element of both offerings will be “Stu,” an AI assistant embedded directly within ProxyExchange. Designed to function as a trusted guide, Stu will support both automated research and hands‑on stewardship workflows, helping clients apply ISS STOXX Governance content and policy preferences more efficiently while maintaining appropriate oversight and control by including humans-in-the-loop.
“We are excited about our continued investment in AI and its integration into our client-facing applications as stewardship expectations continue to grow and institutional investors seek tools that combine transparency, rigor and operational efficiency,” said Lorraine Kelly, Global Head of Investment Stewardship at ISS STOXX. “The new AI-enabled solutions leverage our extensive data sets and human experts, while giving clients greater control over how policy, research, and voting decisions come together.”
Beta testing for both the new PolicySteward solution and ProxyExchange enhancements is planned for fall 2026, while early subscribers to PolicySteward are expected to be able to commence set up by the end of the fourth quarter of 2026 to allow time to configure voting policies ahead of the 2027 annual meeting season.
