Statement in Connection with ISS Governance Further Expanding Inclusion of Cyber Risk Scores in Benchmark Research and Voting Reports

ISS Governance today announced that the ISS Cyber Risk Score and related data will be added to its ISS Benchmark Research and Voting reports for a broader coverage universe. Coverage, which currently includes U.S. companies in the S&P 1,500 and Russell 3,000 indices, will expand to include Canadian companies within the S&P TSX Composite index (TSX250) and Australian companies within the ASX300. The scores, which will appear in reports covering forthcoming 2025 annual meetings for TSX250 and ASX300 constituents, will be provided for informational purposes only and will not impact ISS’ policy application or voting recommendations.

The ISS Cyber Risk Score supports investors by signaling the potential for a company to experience a significant cyber incident (e.g., breach event) in the next 12 months, based on a technical assessment of Internet-exposed domain and network assets.

Headline-grabbing security incidents and data breaches continue to remind us of the importance of cyber security as a key risk category for investors to explore and understand… The coverage extension of the ISS Cyber Risk Score in our Benchmark Research and Voting Reports is geared to help investors assess the relative cyber risk of their portfolio companies and create opportunities for more informed engagement with portfolio firms.
